Anybody that was fortunate enough to know Peter knows that he was partial to a spot of association football.
Therefore, in January 2013, his friends from Eastbourne College and Leeds University contested the inaugural football match in his memory in front of a vocal crowd in Battersea Park. The 4-3 final score in favour of Leeds aptly reflected how closely matched the teams were, and the fact that every player gave, on average, 116% for the eternal gaffer.
Players from both sides displayed no small amount of quality, agility and mental strength, though not always at the same time. Most importantly, it was good fun. Sunday, March 16th will see the two teams battle it out once again. Battersea Park (All Weather Sports Ground in the South-West corner) is the venue and kick off is shortly after 6pm.
It will be a great opportunity to catch up with friends in honour of Pete and his love of Arsenal and the beautiful game. The players will all be making a donation to the Carers Trust so support is appreciated in every sense.
The venue is close to some good pubs so there will be a movement to re-hydrate when the match finishes at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
